What's in a name?

Blog challenge #12: Tell us about your NAME! yep, that's right... your name. How did your parents come up with it?... is there a story behind it?.... Do you like your name?... if you could have named yourself, would it have been the same or something different?

No big stories about my name. I was named after Rachael from The Bible. My parents thought RACHAEL was the spelling in there, but it turns out there was no second "a".

Yeah, I like my name, I don't think I ever disliked it. The only thing that really bugs me about it is that people are CONSTANTLY spelling it wrong! I mean, even when I spell it for them or I have typed it in an email or whatever. So many documents have had it RachEL, can't you read people? LOL

I know it's a different spelling, but really, it's just like Michael, but with an "Ra". :)

I, for one, LOVE the name Rachael. That was one of the names John and I came up with if Nathan had been a girl :)

love it!

Ha...can I share a secret?

My secret make believe name for myself growing up was Rachael...spelled exactly like yours.

Weird huh?

And you DO share the spelling with the most FAB Rachael Ray, she of EVOO fame!

My kiddos "heart" themselves some RayRay so you are in most excellent company!

Hey Michael with an Ra... LOVE your name. I wanted to name one of my babies Rachael, but hubby, who has like 47 cousins, refuses to name our child after any of them. Unfortunately, there's already a Rachael.

Rachael -- I totally love your name and the extra "a" does throw me off to normal spelling -- but I love that you were named after Rachel in the Bible -- she is one of my favorite women in the Old Testament.

Let's just say I'm glad I was born a girl because the boy name my parents had picked out for me is one I do not like, kinda dorky one. I would have been 'Gert' or 'Gertjan' or so I'm told.
Hey and I just want to say that I sympathise with the struggles of speech delay. My little girl has problems too. It's so hard when you are the only person who understands your child (most of the time). Mighty frustrating for the littlies too. Speech therapy has helped Annabel tremendously and I am so so proud of her achievements. Once the speech comes along it will be easier for him too to make some friends. And once the socialising starts there is no stopping them! Just watch him take off!

Rachael is the way I always thought it was spelled. That's how people I knew growing up spelled it. And there's Rachael Ray now too.
